Rebellion, Tattoos and WitchcraftUpdated 04-03-09 10:55 AM CST
The Bible, from cover to cover, and over and over, condemns rebellion. The Lord God considered rebellion so serious - He compared rebellion to witchcraft. And may I remind you, witchcraft was punishable by death!
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, . . . ” 1 Samuel 15:23
“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” Exodus 22:18
And if there’s one message the tattoo cries out - loud and clear - it’s rebellion.

Precepts, statutes, commandments, laws, all of these words pretty much mean the same thing to a Christian who is saved by grace; that being guidelines given by God for living an abundant life in His will.
But when you read the following statement “Saved By Grace, Submitting To His Commandments”, how many of you get your hackles up and a rebellious spirit overcomes you?
You would not believe how many people emailed me condemning me and saying that I am was making them live under the law.
What these emails represented was rebellion and an unwillingness to submit to God’s Word.
So I thought that I would cover a topic that helps make clear that we are called to live a holy and acceptable life for the Lord. How does one doe that? Simple… Obey God’s Word.
Eric Barger stated the following in his article “Looking for Truth in a Tattooed World” (You can read this article below)
It is no secret that over the past decade there has been an explosion of tattoos and body piercings in our culture. While the information here is intended to help Christians make sound decisions from a biblical worldview, hopefully these words might also help lead others away from tattoo parlors and toward the Lord. Also, I have written and re-written to edit this down to fit printable page size for one 8.5×11 sheet, so be aware that there is much more to be said on this subject than space here allows.
In times past, tattoos were reserved for a very small number of people. The word tattoo represents the Samoan word meaning “open wound.” The ancient origins of this practice could go back before the seventh century b.c. And are related to religious ceremonies and traditional rites of passage. Through the centuries, tattooing has been the most common way of marking prisoners. The British tattooed deserters and Hitler’s thugs so marked those interned in concentration camps during the Holocaust. Always accompanied with negative connotations, tattoos were seen primarily on sailors, homosexuals, Hell’s Angel biker-types, gangs, and assorted criminals.
Terry Watkins opens his article “Tattoos and The Bible” (You can read this article below) with the following…
Leviticus 19:28 is the Christian (or so-called Christian?) tattooist and tattoo-bearer’s worst nightmare. The Lord plainly, clearly, strongly, and without a doubt - condemns the tattoo.
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:28
Could that be any more clear?
“Ye shall not. . .print any marks upon you. . .”
Simple. . . Straightforward. . .Settled. . .
God Said It. . . I Believe It. . . That Settles It. . .
Right. . .?
Not hardly. . .

The clear statement from the word of God does not settle anything for this generation of disobedient, carnal, worldy, tolerant, non-judgmental, Christians. Rather than obey God, they run miles and miles and miles to “justify” their open disobedience to the Word of God.
God’s Word states thte following…
1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV) For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, . . . “
John 14:15 (KJV) If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1 Peter 1:16 (KJV) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
John 14:15 (KJV) If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1 Peter 1:16 (KJV) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Christians today do not want nor desire a holy life, they want the ways of the world, and the liscense to sin all in the name of grace.
Romans 12:1-2(KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2(KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I echo what Terry Watkins said..
God Said It. . . I Believe It. . . That Settles It. . .
But I will add this… JUST DO IT!
But I will add this… JUST DO IT!
First it is your “reasonable service” and second, because if you are not, you are in rebellion, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.”
